The Name Fiend is back!

I'll bet most of my viewers have never heard of the Tumbuka before! But they're definitely around, in fact they're about two million of them!

The Tumbuka are a Bantu speaking people who live in Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia

One of the things that the Tumbuka are known for are their love
ofstorytelling, which is often done to the accompaniment of drums and chorus responses.

Stories are told not only to entertain but to teach lessons.
Many stories are known as Vidikoni (Stories with lessons)

Animals are very common in Tumbuka stories
The three most popular are Tortoise, Hare and Hyena
The Tortoise is considered the wisest animal
The Hyena is considered the villian
The Hare is considered a clever schemer, who can only be outwitted by Tortoise.

2 million of them!? Wow, but you're right--I've never heard of them. I'm glad we have you to tell us these things :)

Oh yes. Africa is not a country it is a huge continant (I think the largest of earth) and home to thousands of different tribes, nationalities
and ethic groups.
