Z'Rol is a Tkarite Communications officer aboard the USS Saratoga which James T Kirk commands 
in my AU Abramsverse New Start series.

HISTORY
She was born on Tkara I, the capital of the powerful Tkarite Freehold, which although wasn't a member of the Federation, had friendly relations with it. She was born to House Z'Rol,a powerful Merchant family. 

She admired and respected her mother, Matron Valsha Z'Rol . 
She was particularly close to her father, Stelon Mkari, who came from a long line of scholars and scientists and encouraged her curiosity about other cultures. 

From an early age she had a fascination and natural skill with languages and began to think of Starfleet as a potential career. 
Many Tkarites over the years had left the Freehold to seek their fortunes elsewhere. A few wished to escape the intrigues and power-plays of the Freehold, while others sought better opportunities to gain power and influence.  And some, like Z'Rol sought new opportunities to expand their knowledge.
 
Those who left had to follow five strict rules:
Do nothing that will harm the interests of the Freehold.
Do nothing that will disgrace your House.
Do not break the First Law of the Flesh.
Do not break your word.
Do not involve yourself in any way with slavery or conduct business with those who do.

Tkarites had always been cordial towards the Federation and over the years a few have joined Starfleet. Since Tkara was not a member of the Federation, Z'Rol's application needed to be endorsed by a Starfleet officer.  An officer who Matron Z’Rol had previously worked with in trade negotiations, Commander Richard Nash, agreed to do so after interviewing her and being impressed with her skills.

In 2253 she enlisted in Starfleet Academy in the Communications division. 
Upon graduation in 2257, she was assigned to the USS Saratoga where she works Communications during Beta shift. 

SKILLS
In addition to linguistics, she's good with computers and sensors. 
She's highly intelligent and extremely inventive, capable of split second alterations. 
Like all Tkarites, she also excels in gymnastics and hand to hand combat.

PERSONALITY
She's sophisticated and very charismatic.
She's also very cunning, with eyes always open for the advantage. 
She can be manipulative and one must keep on one's toes around her.

She has a strict code of honor in that she never breaks her word. 

Like all Tkarites, Z'Rol is very seductive and a master of using her beauty to her advantage.
She respects the claims of others and if someone's involved with someone else its hands off. 
Out of respect she never approaches the Senior staff

She follows the strict Tkarite Law "Never against another's will."
If someone tells her no, she right away backs off and never goes near them again.
Very few tell her no, however and like all Tkarites, she's very good at reading others and can tell if someone's interested.

Like all Tkarites, she’s fiercely loyal and good to have as a friend, but deadly to have as an enemy. 
She's beautiful, graceful, sophisticated and charming. 
But although she has no literal claws or fangs, don't think for one second that she's not a predator!
