Star Trek: Saratoga Crew

This is the senior staff of the USS Saratoga which exists in my AU Abramsverse 'New Start. saga.

In 2258, after successfully defeating Nero and saving Earth from destruction, former cadet, James T. Kirk
became Starfleet's youngest Captain and was given command of the Flagship, the USS Enterprise

Less than two months later, a traumatic experience and a shattering betrayal by his own crew, forever
known as the 'Enterprise Incident' led him to step down and severe all ties with his former crewmates.
He was accompanied by Dr. Leonard McCoy, his Chief Medical Officer and closest friend.

In 2259 he accepted command of the USS Saratoga a small science vessel with a crew of 100.
Ever since then he has been raising the status of science vessels, proving over and over that a tiny ship
is more than capable of holding its own and making discoveries and contributions equal to any ship in the Fleet.


Captain James T. Kirk

A genius IQ and a brilliant tactician, he is a man born to lead and with a need to care.
Love of exploration is in his blood and his greatest love is the distant star.
Charismatic with a cocky streak, although since becoming Captain has mellowed a great deal.

Commander Thelin                                    
First Officer/Chief Science Officer

Age 31
Birthplace: Andoria
A brilliant scientist who excels at physics, energy, biology and climatology.
A master administrator who always seems to be everywhere at once and knows everything that goes on onboard.
Comes from a warrior race and while quiet and soft spoken, beneath lies a core of iron that you do not want to cross.
Very intense and can be impulsive at times.


Dr Leonard Horatio McCoy                                     
Chief Medical Officer
Male Human
Age 32
Birthplace: Georgia
A brilliant doctor and surgeon.
Gruff, abrasive and cantankerous.
Terrible bedside manner and always complaining.
Beneath the growls and barbs is a heart of gold.
Kirk's closest friend and confidant.


Lieutenant Shiboline M'Ress                                    
Chief of Communications
Female Caitian
Age 26
Birthplace: Cait
Cooperative and tactful, mild mannered and warm.
Always goes out of her way to soothe conflict
Is the unofficial ambassador/diplomat of the Saratoga.
Studies sociology and anthropology and enjoys poetry and acting.
Very supportive of and fiercely loyal to Captain Kirk.
Also friend of Arex ad Akari

Lieutenant Commander Joyce Filars         
Chief Engineer/2nd Officer 
Female Human
Age 46
Birthplace: Baltimore, Maryland

The Queen Bee of the Saratoga and her presence is felt everywhere on the ship.
Strong, steady and confident, brisk and no nonsense.
A big believer in working hard for what you get.
‘Desire, dedication and discipline’ is her motto.
Instinctual connection to engines and believes that a ship has as much heart and soul as a living thing.
As fiercely proud of the Saratoga as Scotty is of the Enterprise.
A firm believer that ‘bigger doesn’t mean better and smaller doesn’t mean less.’

'Very' maternal towards Kirk, which he greatly appreciates.
To him she is both "Mother Hen" and 'Mother bear'

Over 20 Years ago, her fiancé, Gordon Belmont, was killed only a week before they would have married.
She still commemorates his memory every year and knows never to take a loved one for granted.

Lieutenant Harutu Akari                           
Chief Helmsman
Male Human
Age 33
Birthplace: Kyoto, Japan

A no nonsense perfectionist who can always be found in simulators, improving his technique.
'Honor' and 'Respect' are his middle names and possessed of deep patience and a subtle charm.
Fascinated with history and anthropology.

A master swordsman, who practices the technique of Battōjutsu/Iaijutsu
He is also the sensei to Kirk and the two men have an unusual camaraderie.
On duty Kirk is the commanding officer and Akari the subordinate.
But in the gym Akari is the Sensei and a very demanding one at that.

 
Lieutenant Arex Na'Eth                                        
Chief Navigator/Tactical Officer
Male Edosian
Age: Over 100
Birthplace: Edos

He has been in Starfleet for many years and is known as one of the finest navigators in the Fleet.
Became an officer via a field commission and is entitled to wear three decorations for bravery.
Thoughtful, efficient and given to long silences but always willing to listen.
Quick reflexes and can move with great speed.
In an emergency can operate helm-navigation himself.
A skilled lute player and good at slight of hand tricks which never fails to entertain the Captain.
Good friend to both Akari and M'Ress
